EPOXY SCREED COATING

Epoxy screed floors are high thickness, high-strength resin floors. This resinous mortar system provides industrial floors with elevated chemical and mechanical resistance, impermeability to oil and corrosive agents, resistance to frequent washing and the wear caused by lift trucks and moving vehicles, and a non-slip or smooth surface. This cycle also permits the levelling of bumps and declivities in concrete floors. These floors also bestow a good aesthetic effect.

Stratigraphy

  • Width: from 6 to 15 mm (generally 8-10 mm)
  • Undercoat type: concrete, gres, klinker.
  • Undercoat preparation: shot peening/scarification
  • Mechanical resistances: very high

Fields of use

Coating of industrial flooring with medium and heavy traffic like warehouses, supermarkets, storage areas and productive sites where forklift traffic is strong. The cycle permits the quick levelling of bumps and declivities in highly deteriorated floors.

This type of floor is particularly indicated in:

  • chemical and pharmaceutical industries;
  • processing and storage areas, also for the levelling of particular bumps and declivities;
  • food processing industries, in product production and storage areas, also on surfaces where the traffic is medium-heavy;
  • mechanized warehouses, in every area;
  • commercial centres, in areas with intense pedestrian transit and high handling traffic;
  • aseptic rooms, in storage areas;
  • environments where there is the need to recover highly deteriorated old floorings.

Performance and advantages

  • Non-slip or smooth effect
  • Safe for the environment because it does not contain any solvents
  • Long-lasting because it is characterised by a highly resistance to the wear and abrasion due to constant walking and frequent washing
  • Resistant to the majority of chemical agents like diluted acids, bases, oils and fuels
  • Thanks to its excellent aesthetic characteristics, it is very suitable in areas used for exposition
  • Easily washable, sanitizable, decontaminable and therefore very indicated for the food industry, mainly in the areas for heavy traffic
  • It allows obtaining unbroken and level surfaces with an excellent aesthetic aspect and high functional characteristics
  • Excellent cost-performance ratio.

Chemical resistances

Floors coated with plaster-effect mortar epoxy system resist to:

  • diluted mineral acids like: hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric and sulphuric acid while its resistance is moderate to acids
  • alkali, including sodium hydroxide at 50% concentration and detergents normally used for floor cleaning, even at 20-30% concentrations, provided that they don’t contain any abrasive grains
  • sugars, also for frequent contacts
  • mineral oils, diesel fuel, kerosene and petrol

Cleaning and maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance increase the durability of the treated floor, improve its aesthetic aspect and reduce the tendency to retain dirty. In general, the floorings made with epoxy system are easily washable with neutral or alkaline detergents diluted in water in concentrations of 5 to 10%. Detergents and equipment for cleaning resin floors are easily available on the market. The manufacturers of these detergents can give complete information on how to proceed.
